Dropping 2 spots this month, now behind Philadelphia and Long Beach, Portland ranked as the 16th most expensive city to rent in the nation. The price of one bedroom units fell 2.2% to a median of $1,360, while two bedroom units remained flat at $1,600.

This summer, Pearl ($1,950), Arlington Heights ($1,750), and Old Town – Chinatown ($1,650) were the most expensive neighborhoods to rent. Close behind, Hillside and Downtown Portland were the next priciest areas. Mid-range priced rentals, around $1,200, could be found in Ashcreek, Hayden Island, and Mt. Tabor.
On the other end of the cost spectrum, the most affordable areas to rent, priced under $900, were Wilkes and Parkrose Heights.
