San Francisco, CA (August 7, 2024) — Today, Zumper, North America’s largest privately owned rental marketplace, announces a data partnership with Statistics Canada that will help develop publicly available rent price indices and estimates. This collaboration will offer a clearer picture of the country’s rental market dynamics by enhancing the understanding and tracking of housing trends across Canada.

Through this partnership, Zumper will provide Statistics Canada with detailed data on asking rents and other listing features. This information, combined with other sources, will enable the development of new, publicly accessible data by Statistics Canada that will measure the change in rent costs over time and ultimately aid the government, researchers, and the general public in ongoing housing affordability discussions.

“Our mission has always been to make renting easier and more transparent for everyone,” said Anthemos Georgiades, CEO of Zumper. “By providing our data to Statistics Canada, we are bringing a new level of precision and scope to the understanding of rental market trends that affect both renters and property owners across the country.”
