After Initial Test in Six Markets Over Six Months, Zumper Select Has Closed Over 580 Leases, Generated Over $12.5 Million in Lease Volume
In the biggest step towards redesigning the rental market for the 21st century, Zumper has launched a new service called Zumper Select. Zumper Select is the first ever end-to-end platform in residential rentals, offering renters search, instant chat, personalized concierge service, VR & video tours, and free support in-market to help a renter close their lease. Zumper’s mission is to build the first ever booking platform for apartment rentals.
Zumper Select, which has been operating in beta for six months, has already closed 580 lease transactions and generated over $12.5 million in total lease volume. Zumper takes a percentage of the resulting monthly rent as a fee from the landlord.
Available in in New York City, Chicago, Denver, Atlanta, Houston and Dallas, Zumper Select has already signed up 162,500 apartments in 650 communities as part of the Select program.
Here’s how it works:
- For a renter, Select offers text, chat and phone consultations, personalized listing recommendations, tour scheduling and logistics, and any follow-up to close the apartment. Unlike all the other apartment search portals, Zumper takes a renter well beyond search – all the way through to signing a lease.
- For a landlord or property manager, Zumper Select shoulders the work of responding to each potential renter, ensuring minimum application requirements are met, and even accompanying renters on tours. Instead of delivering thousands of unqualified email & phone leads, Zumper Select hand-delivers pre-qualified tenants to landlords.
“At a time when, with one simple tap, anyone can reliably get from point A to point B, order food, or find their soulmate, why is renting still done the old-fashioned way?” said Zumper co-founder and CEO Anthemos Georgiades. “Zumper doesn’t think it should be. Zumper Select is the first and only step our industry has ever taken to make leasing an apartment as easy as booking a hotel. As of today, Zumper is no longer just a search platform. We are the first apartment booking engine.”
