Zumper has acquired NowRenting, a Rhode Island based startup that has built landlord software to streamline various aspects of the rental business. This acquisition will help Zumper continue scaling its team to develop and enhance its product offerings for landlords.

NowRenting founder, Edward Giardina, has joined Zumper as the Head of Landlord Product & Engineering, along with the rest of the employees from the company. The Rhode Island-based team is operating out of in the Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC). Zumper is looking to hire 10-15 more engineers by the end of the year to work out of CIC Providence.

Zumper and NowRenting were both founded due to frustrations with the rental market – Zumper from the consumer side and NowRenting from the landlord side – so the two companies complemented each other in terms of the problems they were trying to solve. With the incorporation of NowRenting, Zumper will be able to create new product offerings at a faster rate and continue to scale its amazing team.
