People find countless reasons to live in Los Angeles. No matter what lures you to the city of angels, though, this vibrant metro boasts eclectic neighborhoods, world-class amenities, culture, diversity, and high quality of life. Whether you’re considering a move, or you’re already a resident of “The City of Angels,” “Tinseltown,” “La-La Land,” or just plain old “LA”, here are six reasons to live in Los Angeles.
You might catch your big break

Let’s just get this one out the way. A lot of people come to LA hoping to become the next top model, catch a role in a major film, or be discovered by a hot recording artist. Sadly, this doesn’t happen that often and people who relocate to LA in hopes of breaking through into show biz often end up working as a barista. BUT mathematically, you have a better chance of being discovered in LA than, say, Oklahoma City. So if you’re willing to gamble with those odds, pack your bags.
The weather is impeccable

They say it never rains in Southern California, and that’s mostly true. Besides a few rainy days each year, Angelenos enjoy a pleasant Mediterranean climate year-round. Situated between the Pacific Ocean shoreline and the Santa Monica, Angeles National Forest, and San Bernardino Mountains, summer temperatures rarely rise above 85 or drop below 65. And in January, anything below 48 degrees is considered out of the norm. The amazing year-round weather means you can enjoy the beach and some of the LA’s best hikes practically any time you choose.
The location doesn’t get any better

If you’re the kind of person who gets bored easily, living in Los Angeles is your kind of place. You can catch the sunrise and a few waves at the beach in the morning, drive a short while and spend your afternoon skiing, and make it back for dinner and drinks downtown with friends (traffic pending, of course). Neither outdoor enthusiasts nor city slickers will run out of things to do here.
It’s a melting pot of cultures

You haven’t seen diversity until you’ve seen LA. The city has heavy Latino and Asian influence, but you can find pockets of almost every ethnicity throughout this sprawling city. Spend the day exploring Korea Town, Filipinotown, Little Armenia, or Little Toyko. The city’s cross-culture influence of over 140 nationalities and 200 different languages is evident in the cuisine, style, and air of Los Angeles. Need some help picking a neighborhood to live in? There’s so much deliciousness to eat

In Los Angeles, you can get huevos divorciados for breakfast, Korean barbecue for lunch, and Ramen for dinner — all authentic, all in one day. That’s LA. Food trucks are popular here, so you’ll always have the chance to try something new wherever you are. And if you want something more refined, Los Angeles has many high-end dining establishments. And, the city is no stranger to bottomless brunches. No matter your fancy, you’ll find something to write home about here — just another reason to live in LA.
It’s a great place to get an education

Los Angeles is serious about its education. There are over 106 colleges within 50 miles of LA. As such, this city is the perfect place if you’re about to embark on undergraduate studies or pursue your passion in a graduate program. Some of the area’s institutions, like UCLA, Pepperdine University, and Loyola Marymount University, are consistently top-ranked schools.
Los Angeles is unlike any other city. Filled with attractions, mouthwatering food, true diversity, exceptional weather, and innumerable attractions, there are countless reasons to live in Los Angeles. Search thousands of Los Angeles apartments on Zumper and find the one that’s right for you.
