Coming ahead of Boston, Los Angeles, and Oakland, Washington D.C. ranked as the 4th most expensive rental market in the nation this month. The price of one bedroom units grew 3.6% to a median of $2,280, while two bedrooms increased 2.5% to $3,230.

While Mount Pleasant and Palisades had the largest rent bumps since last quarter, both up around 8%, Fort Totten – Upper Northeast had the biggest rent dip, down over 10%.

This fall, Dupont Circle, Logan Circle, and Shaw all tied for the most expensive neighborhood to rent at $2,600 for one bedroom units. Georgetown ($2,500) and Mount Vernon Square ($2,500) followed closely behind as the next priciest areas. More affordable rentals priced around $1,650 could be found in Berkley, Stadium – Armory, and Catholic University – Brookland.
