Step out of the apartment in some truly patriotic gear this 4th of July by wearing the Stars and Stripes. You can wear them on your head, on your bod, on your feet, or even on your face. There are hundreds of ways to turn an American flag into a fashion statement, but here are 3 of our favorites:
Make a Cape
This is by far the easiest way to wear the flag this 4th of July. Every kid has turned an old sheet, t-shirt, or random piece of fabric into a superhero cape. So why not try it with Old Glory? Simply find your stars and stripes, tie it around your neck, and you’re ready to rock n’ roll. Because ‘Merica!
Paint Your Frames
Use acrylic paint to turn a funky pair of glasses or sunglasses into a star-spangled fashion accessory. You can also use glue, wire, and miscellaneous 4th of July decorations to customize those frames into a variety of looks.
Wear a Bikini Flag
If the weather’s a little warm, try turning your American flag t-shirt into a bikini flag. If this isn’t your first rodeo with DIY shirt-cutting, then you know it can be as simple as cut, twist and tie. However, here is an easy tutorial for the rest of us:
- Lay the t-shirt flat on a flat surface.
- Cut a 12-inch strip from the middle of the shirt.
- Cut the back in the center, then cut two strips horizontally for back ties.
- Twist the middle to make a sexy front for your bikini top..
- Viola! You’re done!
Now that you’ve had a little 4th of July DIY inspiration, you’ll be able to come up with a patriotic look quickly and cheaply. So don’t settle for the ubiquitous red, white and blue clothes when you can dress up like a sexy Uncle Sam and strut your stuff in authentic, unique fashion using the stars and stripes!
